Impact Story

Woman farmer in cassava field

Wi Root is built on the belief that real impact begins at the source. At the heart of our work are women who cultivate cassava, a crop that has sustained families for generations but has often remained undervalued. Through Wi Root, these women are no longer just raw material suppliers. They are skilled producers, contributors to a formal value chain, and active participants in a growing digital economy.

We work directly with women cassava farmers and processors, supporting them to move beyond traditional methods into structured, higher-value production. Through hands-on training and continuous guidance, we help them transform cassava roots into high-quality cassava flour that meets food safety and market standards. This knowledge transfer empowers them with practical skills, improves product consistency, and increases their earning potential, turning everyday labor into sustainable livelihoods.

Our vision

To reduce dependence on imported wheat flour by championing cassava flour as a nutritious, gluten-free, and locally sourced alternative. Through women empowerment, value-added processing, and digital access to markets, Wi Root aims to improve livelihoods while supporting healthier diets and resilient local food systems aligned with global nutrition and food security priorities.

Cassava flour is naturally gluten-free and plays a vital role in food security.

Our mission

To promote cassava flour as a healthy, locally produced alternative to imported wheat flour by empowering women-led producers, strengthening local value chains, and encouraging healthier living through gluten-free, nutritious food options. Wi Root supports the production and distribution of high-quality cassava flour, a crop widely recognized for its role in food security and nutrition within global development and humanitarian programs.

Hear from the women whose lives have been transformed through Wi Root. Their stories reflect the real impact of this project.

"Before Wi Root, I was selling raw cassava at low prices. Now I process my own flour and earn three times what I used to. My children can all go to school now."
